Copper And Kings’ Ride The Mule Cocktail

As much as I’d love it if everyone just drank bourbon neat, sometimes you have to shake things up a bit (see what I did there?). Cocktails are an integral part of entertaining, especially when Derby season rolls around. You’ll have to make a proper Mint Julep, but there are other fabulous and easy cocktails that are sure to impress. Thanks to Copper and Kings for sending this cocktail recipe my way. Can’t wait to try it out! (Also check out the Copper and Kings Derby Social at Farmington)

Ride the Mule™, the NOT Official Drink of Derby, is a hassle-free, refreshing brandy cocktail created for springtime in Kentucky. Noted horse trainer Pat Parelli famously said, “a mule is just like a horse, but even more so.”

Ride the Mule™
2 ounces Copper & Kings immature brandy
.5 ounces lime juice
4 ounces Butchertown Soda ginger beer
Lime wheel and wedge

In a highball glass, muddle lime wheel at the bottom, avoiding the peel. Add brandy and ice. Top with ginger beer. Squeeze lime wedge on top and drop in glass.
