It took 9 years for Buffalo Trace to make it from barrel 6 million to barrel 7 million, says Sazerac CEO Mark Brown, but barrel 8 million will be coming in just four years and barrel 9 million will follow just two years after that. It’s a sign of the bourbon boom and the sign says we’re definitely still on the upward trajectory and will be for quite some time.

Of particular note was the presence of three generations of the Johnson family. Freddie Johnson rolled the barrel into Warehouse V with his grandson on April 11, 2018 as he had done with his father for the 6 millionth barrel nine years ago. His father, Jimmy Johnson, rolled in barrels 4, 5, and 6 million.
These barrels are aged in this special “rickhouse for one” until they are bottled and sold for various charities. You can see a video of the festivities below:
