7 Million Barrels Since Prohibition At Buffalo Trace

It took 9 years for Buffalo Trace to make it from barrel 6 million to barrel 7 million, says Sazerac CEO Mark Brown, but barrel 8 million will be coming in just four years and barrel 9 million will follow just two years after that. It’s a sign of the bourbon boom and the sign says we’re definitely still on the upward trajectory and will be for quite some time.

Generations 3, 4, and 5 of the Johnson Family. Jimmy Johnson, generation 2, rolled in the 4th, 5th, and 6th millionth barrels. It’s a family tradition.

Of particular note was the presence of three generations of the Johnson family. Freddie Johnson rolled the barrel into Warehouse V with his grandson on April 11, 2018 as he had done with his father for the 6 millionth barrel nine years ago. His father, Jimmy Johnson, rolled in barrels 4, 5, and 6 million.

These barrels are aged in this special “rickhouse for one” until they are bottled and sold for various charities. You can see a video of the festivities below:
